Beyond some of the products already mentioned, we might use the following items to improve your garden soil:
- Green Manures (“cover crops” such as buckwheat)
- Coconut Coir
- Crushed Oyster Shells
- Glacial Rock Dust
These are all natural products. West Coast Foodscapes attempts to avoid using sphagnum peat since it is a resource that is not easily renewable. Most potting soils available contain peat.
